Image- based lesson
For this lesson I would have the children go home and take digital pictures of the food items that they have there. Then they would get in groups and make a food pyramid with the pictures. This will help them learn nutritional facts, and this also teaches them how to use a camera, word processing, and they can make the lettering more attractive by using word art.

Sharon,
I think this a great idea! Not only does it teach your students food nutrition but also they get to create their own. In other words, they get take pictures of their own bread, cereal, fruits, vegetables, etc. I think this makes the lesson more interesting.
Great job!
Awesome lesson idea! This is so much better then just passing out a sheet with the food pyramid on it; this way they can make it their own unique pyramid with their own foods and pictures, which is sure to keep their attention longer and be something that they'll want to make nice. This is also a great way of showing how the food pyramid works in the student's every day lives because they'll be using food they actually have and eat!
Sharon,
What a great idea with putting together a food pyramid with real live pictures from your own home. You could always have a blank food pyramid with real pictures that the children have to put on the prymid. Just a idea.Way to go it was a great lesson.
Sharon,
I love this idea. I think this has been my favorite lesson that I have looked at. This is a really fun and creative way to get the students involved in looking at their eating habits. They may have trouble finding fruits to take pictures of at home, so then they realize that they probably need to eat more fruit since they don't have any at home. This really is a great activity to get the students discussing health and eating habits and also incorporating many computer skills. Great lesson!!
Sharon,
This is a great leasson plan! Health and nutrition is in the curriculum, so why not teach them nutrition in a fun way! This would allow students to think outside of the box, while they create their own. It will also allow the students to get to know each other better, and see what kind of food they have in common! This will definitly be beneficial in the classroom, and the students will really be interested in this lesson plan.
